What if we like art, enjoy going to galleries and museums, admired work that we saw in someone’s home or have a few pieces of art that we have collected, and that is the extent of our art knowledge. Below is a brief overview of art terminologies that will be helpful, not only in selecting art for your collection but understanding more about the art world. So, what is art? Artist/owner of The West End Contemporary Art Gallery, Dan Houston’s primary work is that of an abstract expressionist. Houston studied at the prestigious Cooper Union School of Art and the School of Visual Art, during this period of academia he was being schooled to focus on becoming a fine artist with an emphasis on realism. Nonetheless, this was during the mid 60’s when abstract expressionism was at its peak and was apparently a subliminal influence, will explain, and keep reading.
